WATERCOLOR POETRY

I am a freelance writer, an artist (see my Watercolor Poetry link), a mostly-retired registered nurse, and, for the first time in January to March 2007, a 'snow bird' who fled the Oregon rain and enjoyed the warm sunny weather in Palm Springs, California! In the Fall of 2007 I bought a small class B motorhome so I can travel off and on throughout the year as well.

My writing interweaves throughout my life in everything I do.

I began writing seriously about 20 years ago. I took a writing course (many years post-college) in creative writing and I have continued with courses in various aspects of writing since that time. I started a writing group with several excellent and productive writers a few years ago. This very talented group has helped and inspired me to hone my own writing to my highest ability and to achieve my goal of producing publishable work.

I devote much of each day to my beloved craft of writing along with my other loves: art, gardening and spending time with my four grandchildren. In the fall of 2006, I started doing some freelance writing work. (Please see my Associated Content Producer's page link at the end of this page).

HERE IS AN EXCERPT FROM A PRESS RELEASE:

"Doreen Kay Bradley kept very busy. She had lots to do. She had projects going all around the house; in her bedroom and in her playhouse, in the garden, the greenhouse, conservatory and the garage. She had bug collections, codes and books she was writing; books and magazines she was reading; magazines and catalogs she was ordering things from, and ill dolls she was nursing back to health. She was trying to teach her dog, Mike, to talk, and write rules and regulations for her 'Eagles Club'. She listened to her daily radio programs, practiced the piano, cleaned her room and rearranged her bedroom furniture frequently. One day she remodeled her playhouse, another day, she painted her new beige oxfords, orchid and her shiny blue Schwinn bicycle, dull barn red. She was busy from morning to night! Here are some stories about Doreen Kay Bradley when she was a young girl. I know all about her childhood because I am that same little girl, some fifty years later. I call my stories: "THE GRANDMOTHER STORIES."

MY FUTURE GOALS. . .

One of my goals is to publish a children's book and/or publish some of my stories for children in other markets. My agent has been actively marketing my work which includes two mid-grade chapter books and several picture books. The wait is long, but she assures me they have a good chance of being picked up by a publisher.

Another goal is to continue perfecting my writing skills to produce the best work that I am capable of doing.
